How is a PNR number issued for a train?
The PNR number involves two segments, of which the underlying three digits demonstrate the area from where the ticket is held by the voyager.
The starting digit of the PNR number shows from where the train would begin its trip. As any Indian Railways train ticket is saved from a PRS (Passenger Reservation System), the two succeeding digits after the primary digit will show the particular PRS.
We have recorded underneath the numbers that have a spot with the underneath referenced zones independently.
1 – Issued from the SCR zone (Secunderabad PRS)
2, 3 – Issued from NR, NCR, NWR, or NER zone (New Delhi PRS)
4, 5 – Issued from SR, SWR, or SCR zone (Chennai PRS)
6, 7 – Issued from NFR, ECR, ER, EcoR, SER or SECR zone (Kolkata PRS)
8, 9 – Issued from CR, WCR, or WR zone (Mumbai PRS)
The last 7 numbers are subjectively created numbers, just to make the Passenger Name Record (PNR) number intriguing.
